Countess springs shock in opener
She got wound up when she ran at Tipperary and I thought she mightn't handle the ground but she did,. She could go for a nursery next.
Row leaves it late at Listowel
Gary said to be that there would have been a serious row if he'd have been beaten as he was so far back turning in!. He is very consistent but was unlucky the last day when the leather came undone in the Cambridgeshire. He was due his turn but had been placed an awful lot and that's only his third win. He is a very handsome horse, was a good two year old but was stuck in the 90s. He loves the bad ground and we'll probably have a wet autumn so we'll try to find another race.
Dew Line claims second win this week
It has been a lucky week and the handicapper was going to give her 10lbs for winning so we decided to run under her penalty,. She's an autumn horse, likes the heavy ground and will have a little break now.
Smullen and Weld strike again with Zafayan
Kylecrue doubles up in Goodwill Chase
I think he'd have been a real player in the Kerry National on Wednesday but unfortunately he missed the cut by one. It's a good consolation to get a win here and to win twice in the week is great,. He might go for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham's Open meeting next if he gets into it. Draycott Place is a lovely horse but had been out of form all year. He had his palate done and it's only now he's blooming. He'll go to Sligo for a 0-130 chase next.
Rua completes double in under 24 hours
He has been real fresh all year and I said I'd declare him and see how he is in the morning and he ate up last night,. I brought him back home yesterday and he was back out in the paddock at 6.45am - it's a three hour drive down. I only have him a year but he's been very consistent. He'll run next in a Grade C handicap hurdle at Gowran on October 1st. I have 10 or 11 horses in training but have room for more.
Concorde makes winning start over jumps
It's great to have winners at Listowel and he also won at Galway so has done his job for the summer and I hope he has a bright future,. He had done plenty schooling and wants better ground.
Lakemilan takes bumper in style
She wasn't beaten far in a bumper at Killarney where the winner and fourth went on to win since. Johnny said she travelled well today and had plenty left when he asked her,. I got her from the owner (Denis Wilson) a couple of months ago - I had never met the man but he asked me to train her and I've loved her from day one. She might have a break now.
