Rounding the first bend, a free running Allen Key (GB), unplaced, had to be checked to avoid the heels of May Punch (GB), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
When the pace slackened entering the first bend Dukedom (IRE), placed second, was briefly short of room between May Punch (GB), placed fifth, and El Hibri (IRE), placed seventh, which moved marginally left-handed, and resulted in Dukedom (IRE) over-reacting when being restrained by its rider and losing ground, which in turn caused Round Acre (GB), unplaced, who was following the incident to be severely checked and Hollow Steel (IRE), unplaced, to be hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the first bend involving May Punch (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Luke Morris, Liamarty Dreams (GB), placed third, ridden by Ben Curtis and the winner, Amor Vincit Omnia (IRE), ridden by Richard Kingscote.
Kingscote was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to edge left-handed, when insufficiently clear of Liamarty Dreams (GB), tightening that colt onto May Punch (GB) which was steadied by its rider when left short of room on the rail.
Following the race, Paul Hanagan reported that Round Acre (GB), unplaced, hung right-handed off the bend and Andrea Atzeni reported that Allen Key (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.
