The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P. L. Malone, that L.T. McAteer, rider of Drakensberg, had presented himself to weigh out at two pounds overweight, which was not declared at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L. T. McAteer was in breach of rule 195 (i) and rule 198 (vii) and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended him for two racedays. Furthermore, the Stewards granted a request from A. J. Martin to substitute L. T. McAteer with D. W.O'Connor
The Stewards enquired into an incident at the top of home straight involving Glorious Zoff, ridden by Sam Ewing, placed first and Majestic Jewel (GB), ridden by M. P. Sheehy, unplaced, where it appeared that Majestic Jewel had to check off heels. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Sam Ewing was in breach of rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered Sam Ewing's record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion. Sam Ewing was accompanied by Mary Nugent at this enquiry. M. P. Sheehy was accompanied by Kevin O'Ryan at this enquiry.
