While he will be suited to further in time, this looks a stiff test over a mile and he looks well enough treated to go close. Comfort Line, who won that aforementioned Curragh race is now 2lb worse off with the selection. A former course and distance winner, the Ado McGuinness-trained veteran is proven at this venue so that has to be a major positive. Ella's Gold disappointed last time but had been in decent form prior to that so is worth considering.

Jack gave him a great ride. I told him to take his time as I knew there would be a good pace with Verhoyen in it,. It set up nicely for him and he just held on. It’s 13 months since he won and the handicapper has been slow to drop him. The horse is getting older and getting slower so he has to come down. I wasn’t really expecting it as I thought his last three runs were disappointing. He surprised me today but he likes it here so you never know. I think there is a race on the last day here but I might just leave him off after this. He probably only has another year in him as he’s turning 10 next year.
