The stayers are in the spotlight on day 1 as the Goodwood Cup, run over two miles, is the feature race of the day.
Star stayer Kyprios is current odds-on favourite for trainer Aidan O'Brien following his excellent Ascot Gold Cup victory.
There is however some tough opposition to fend off with Coltrane, Sweet William and Gregory, prominent in the betting. Kyprios had these three well held at Ascot.
Trueshan is also declared to run but would appreciate more give in the ground.

Formscan - Ascot Gold Cup hero KYPRIOS had an epic battle with Stradivarius when he won this in 2022 and has thrived at the top table in this division ever since. While the son of Galileo didn't get the chance to defend his crown here 12 months ago, he can make up for lost time by cementing his authority over some old rivals. Sweet William was six lengths behind the selection in the Gold Cup but has a feasible chance of getting closer over this shorter trip. Coltrane was third in last year's renewal and is another to bear in mind.

The Sussex Stakes is more affectionately known as ‘the duel on the downs’ thanks to the exciting clashes between some of racing’s greatest on the Sussex downs through the years.
Irish 2000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes winner Rosallion has been ruled out of the contest due to a respiratory infection which has dramatically changed the shape of the race.
Aidan O'Brien has always had faith in his talented three-year-old, Henry Longfellow, who is now favourite for the contest and finished 2nd at Royal Ascot in the St James's Palace Stakes.
English 2000 Guineas winner Notable Speech is also prominent in the betting and is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 7th in the St James's Palace Stakes.
Sonny Listen represents Ralph Beckett, while French raider Facteur Cheval and William Haggas's Maljoom complete the field.

Formscan - Aidan O'Brien saddled Paddington to success in this race 12 months ago and the Ballydoyle handler is fancied to repeat those dose with HENRY LONGFELLOW, who was only narrowly beaten when second in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. The son of Dubawi was only collared late by the talented Rosallion on that occasion and he can go one better today. 2000 Guineas hero Notable Speech is feared most if he can bounce back to form and replicate the sparkle of his Classic success at Newmarket, while last year's runner-up, Facteur Cheval, is also worthy of consideration.

Opera Singer is current favourite to land the Group 1 feature on Thursday. Aidan O'Brien's filly was scintillating when winning the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac as a two-year-old. She was then 3rd in the Irish Guineas followed by a good 2nd in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Emily Upjohn and Inspiral are tough opposition and on their day can be sensational. An interesting contender is French Oaks winner Sparkling Plenty at 10-1 and Ralph Beckett's Royal Ascot winner, Doha, who looks progressive.

1st - €377,122.00 2nd - €142,975.00 3rd - €71,554.00 4th - €35,644.00 5th - €17,888.00 6th - €8,978.00 Going - Good to Firm.
Formscan - A runner-up over a mile in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, Opera Singer has yet to fulfil last year's potential. This extra distance will likely bring improvement, but the same comment also applies to Coronation Stakes fourth ELMALKA. Roger Varian's filly produced a late surge to land the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and will relish this extra test of stamina. Emily Upjohn will appreciate the faster ground having gone desperately close in the Pretty Polly at the Curragh, while Sparkling Plenty swept past the opposition at Chantilly to win the French Oaks in good style and is not out of place in this company.

Australian raider Asfoora was a ready winner of the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot and heads the market for this Group 2 contest on Friday.
Big Evs is fancied to reverse the form with Asfoora for Mick Appleby as the star sprinter arguably went off too fast at Royal Ascot. Believing and Starlust also bring plenty of quality to this field in what looks an open race.
3.355f. 10 Declared.King George Qatar Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1 ) of £317,000.00 3-y-o plus
1st - €179,771.00 2nd - €68,155.00 3rd - €34,109.00 4th - €16,991.00 5th - €8,527.00 6th - €4,280.00 Going - Good to Firm.
Formscan - Asfoora finished behind a couple of these in the Temple Stakes at Haydock, but the Aussie sprinter was seen to best effect when taking the King Charles III on quick ground at the Royal meeting. Henry Dwyer's mare is expected to go well under optimal conditions, although BIG EVS is fancied to gain his revenge. The son of Blue Point showed blistering pace before wilting late on in that same contest. It was an excellent effort given that a stiff finish wouldn't have been ideal, and this test will be more suitable. Live In The Dream has been below his best this season but it would be folly to dismiss him.

Peter Charalambous’s battle-hardened sprinter was sunk in soft ground at Sandown last time out when disappointing, but had run two crackers in strong handicaps before that blip and can bounce back to his best here on a much faster surface. His brute early pace is always a big asset at these sharp tracks, and he can blitz a big field from the front under regular rider Richard Kingscote.
3.356f. 25 Declared.Coral Stewards' Cup (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2 ) of £250,000.00 3-y-o plus
1st - €128,850.00 2nd - €60,425.00 3rd - €30,225.00 4th - €15,100.00 5th - €7,550.00 6th - €3,775.00 Going - Good to Firm.
Formscan - Up to 28 sprinters go to post for one of the most competitive races of the season and, with winners at 25/1 and 18/1 the last couple of years, anything seems possible. Qatar raider Dark Trooper holds obvious claims after his Wokingham Stakes second, but he races off a 3lb higher mark and may have to settle for a place. PUROSANGUE makes his handicap debut on his 11th start and, after a second in the Group 3 Coral Charge at Sandown where beaten less than a length, he looks the likeliest winner if he can repeat that form at this level. He is due to go up 4lb in the near future, suggesting he has every chance here, while Cover Up and Billyjoh head a long list of others to at least consider.
