FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Seven-year-old COMMANCHE FALLS hasn't won since last September but returned to form recently and today reverts to this distance, over which all 12 of his wins have come. His biggest success was a Group 3 last July and while well held at Haydock recently, the winner subsequently finished fourth in both Royal Ascot's two Group 1 sprints. Dual course winner Ano Syra is the top adjusted-rated runner and finished third in the course-and-distance Group 2 Greenlands Stakes in May. That was probably a career best effort but disappointed subsequently at Cork. Three-year-old My Mate Alfie has progressed well this year and is well suited by this distance but his only win was gained in a maiden last year.

Quotes on Commanche Falls (GB)
He always takes a while to warm into his races and you would be worried if he wasn’t like that. Connor thinks he will be a better horse in a better race. He’s really chilled at home and doesn’t sweat at all. He’s a very chilled out horse and good to train. The races for him in the UK are quite limited so that’s why we came here. I don’t think we will be put off coming here again if there is something. He got too high to rn in handicaps and has stepped up to stakes races. He’s performed well in them and my dad said the York run was probably his best run. We were going to go to Ascot for the Wokingham but he was too high and came here instead. After Commanche Falls (GB) finished 1st at Curragh on Sun, 2nd Jul 2023 6f Flat Good

Quotes on Tango Flare (IRE)
Obviously with him winning it last year it was an ideal race to come back here for,. We'll probably go the same route and go back to the Curragh for the Listed race that he was fourth in last year. He was unlucky not to get the black-type last year and you'd be hoping this year with being stronger and more mature he has a chance of getting it. He's holding his form well and he's not too far off it. We tried him over seven on his first run back this season, to see would he get it, but he doesn't. He's a six furlong horse. We dropped him back to six at the Curragh, he missed the break but we were delighted with how he ran on to get fourth. If he had jumped he'd probably have been closer. He was top of the weights that day and it'd hard for him. At least in a Listed race he'll be off level weights. If he can get a length improvement we'll have the black-type.After Tango Flare (IRE) finished 1st at Fairyhouse on Fri, 7th Jun 2024 6f Flat Good

Quotes on Ano Syra (IRE)
Jamie has ridden five winners for me now from eight rides with two seconds and a fourth. He's doing well for me at the moment anyway,. We got her before Christmas, Charlotte and James were kind enough to send her to us, and she's kept improving. In fairness to Kevin Manning he's done a lot of work with her as well. We thought she'd get a bit of black-type in the future and we'd plot a course through the year with her. We were a little bit worried about the ground but she was brave, she has a big heart. I know she had a light weight but she was a three-year-old taking on older sprinters. She travelled really well and she's just a good filly. After Ano Syra (IRE) finished 1st at Curragh on Sun, 26th Jun 2022 5f Flat Hcap Yielding

Quotes on Pink Sorrel (IRE)
We thought she was a nice filly. She had a bit of a cough and we gave her a bit of a break, I think there is fierce improvement in her. She has a nice pedigree. Gary loved her, he said she gave a heave at the furlong pole and just idled. He said 'I can see a lot of improvement in this filly' so I hope he's right. We'll see what the handicapper gives her and take it from there. I think she is a filly going forward. After Pink Sorrel (IRE) finished 1st at Curragh on Sat, 1st Jul 2023 1m Flat Maiden Good

Quotes on Jakajaro (IRE)
He's a very good rider, obviously, and he's a great team player. This horse was gelded last year. He had run some fabulous races and he has a lot of speed and is a very good horse. He travels very easy and doesn't do a lot when he gets there. You could see that today halfway up the straight. There's no doubt he had a good juvenile campaign and ended up with a 93 rating - he was 93 doing a few things wrong. There's a nice Group 3 in Ascot in early May for him and there's a (Listed) race in Navan for him. We'll pick our spot and have a think about it.After Jakajaro (IRE) finished 1st at Dundalk on Fri, 15th Mar 2024 6f Flat Standard

Quotes on My Mate Alfie (IRE)
Colin was excellent, he knows the horse from home. He rode him like a champion jockey should ride him. He produced him on the line and the horse will come on immensely maturity-wise. Austin Whelan, who owns the horse, is an Irishman that lives in London. He's a gentleman and we are delighted for him, hopefully it is the first of many for us. He has a few horses here, there and everywhere, but he has a couple with us. His first couple of runs have been good, but he will only get better mentally and he will get great confidence out of that. He wants a little bit of a cut, the ground is beautiful. After My Mate Alfie (IRE) finished 1st at Down Royal on Fri, 28th Jul 2023 7f Flat Maiden Good
