The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Itsonlyrocknroll, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be still blowing hard 25 minutes post race. R. Walsh, rider of Itsonlyrocknroll trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the fourth last. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Itsonlyrocknroll, ridden by R. Walsh, and trained by W.P. Mullins. Evidence was heard from the rider and authorised representative concerned. R. Walsh stated that his instructions were to give his mount a normal maiden hurdle ride, get him to travel and jump well and keep him in the first two or three. In the opinion of R. Walsh, the ground on the outside of the track was better and he would ride out wide. During the race, Itsonlyrocknoll made a bad mistake at the fourth last hurdle, which R. Walsh reported to the Clerk of the Scales. Following this mistake, R. Walsh stated that his mount, who is a buzzy horse and was wearing a tongue strap, got back into the race too quickly in that he got racing down the hill when R. Walsh would have preferred to hold him longer. On entering the straight, R. Walsh found his mount to be a bit empty and when he tried to push him on by squeezing his legs in the closing stages he couldn't find anymore. Mr. B. Delmar, authorised representative of W.P. Mullins, confirmed the instructions given to R. Walsh prior to this race. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Itsonlyrocknroll was still blowing hard 25 minutes post race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
