After race at Dundalk Sun, 6th Sep, 2015 (1st)

I was happy to see him drawn in five, and the race set up nicely with Maontri going off in front. He comes off the bridle plenty early but finds plenty,. He's been consistent all season when he has his ground. He minds himself when it's too fast and that's probably why he's kept sound for so long.

After race at Naas Mon, 4th Aug, 2014 (1st)

I like these conditions races. It gives horses like him another chance to win a race. I was a bit surprised he went up 1lb as he was beaten five and a half lengths in fourth. His previous highest winning mark was 84 and he's 87 now. Shane said there was a bit of pace in the race. He got a lead and battled well in the last furlong when he needed to. He's had a good year winning three. He's been in a very good vein of form. Seven furlongs or a mile is ideal for him.

the stalls didn't open, but it actually worked out well for us as a couple of pacesetters were taken out! In fairness he (Straits Of Zanzibar) was a good two-year-old and he knows how to battle and he certainly did there.

I was looking back at his third last run (not beaten far at this venue) and he's been threatening to do that for a while. I'm delighted with the way he battled. He responded to Niall's driving and fought all the way to the line. He didn't win last year and I'm delighted for the connections as it's easy to lose faith.

After race at Tipperary Fri, 5th Aug, 2011 (1st)

We've always had plenty of faith in the horse. He was unlucky first time at Naas as we declared him on good to firm and the ground turned slow,. We've been waiting for this ground and were always quite hopeful of a good performance on this preferred ground. He's improving along the way. He's not the most straight forward. He saves a bit for himself and doesn't make things look easy but he has plenty of ability. He's entered in the Futurity and the National Stakes. A horse like this doesn't come along very often for me and he could take his chance in one of them. We also have the option of travelling abroad.
