He is coming to himself all the time and, being a full-brother to (stablemate) Ideal Pal, we had a rough idea he'd handle the ground. He was very weak early on this year but has started to strengthen. I wasn't expecting him to win as easy as that but he is going the right way and knows what it is all about. It's onwards and upwards but that's him finished for the year as he won't be going to the all-weather. He is named after a friend of mine Robbie McMahon and I'm delighted for him. He is from Leggagh and he asked me to call the horse after him.

it was ideal conditions for the horse. He hit the last two hurdles the last day and fell-in, but he jumped a lot better today. I knew he had improved from the last day, but I didn’t think he had improved that much. We’ll probably go back to the Flat with him now and he really does like that ground.

he ran well the last day (at Fairyhouse) and, on his Flat form, was entitled to be there or thereabouts in a race like that. He battered the last two hurdles but stuck at it well. He’s a hardy little horse and guts won it for him in the finish. He can mix it between hurdles and the Flat and wants the ground like that (soft).

We were forced into running as the 12lb rise was going to be hard. Duke Of Leggagh is a lovely horse in the making and looks like a horse that will jump a hurdle as well. He's growing and developing all the time. It took a while last year for the penny to drop with him but it did in Galway and Gary (Carroll, completing a double for Mulvany) said there is still a bit left in him there so hopefully it's onwards and upwards. He wants that ground and he stays that trip well. I think he'll develop into a lovely three-year-old hurdler in time. His full-brother (Ideal Pal) won the novice handicap hurdle in Fairyhouse last year and he's a better horse than him.
