Flat and National Hunt enthusiasts are both catered for as racing takes place at Navan and Wexford this afternoon with selective watering being carried out at both tracks.
The going at Navan is good, good to firm in places, with a warm and dry day forecast as temperatures are predicted to reach a peak of about 19C.
The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Yeats Stakes is the feature event on a seven-race card beginning at 2.05pm and Arbutus looks set to go off favourite having made a winning debut over this 1m5f course and distance last month.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Galileo colt faces four rivals with Selador now an absentee due to a temperature.
Eleswhere on the card, Beauty Crescent has been supported into odds-on favouritism for the opening juvenile maiden following a promising debut at Cork, although the Mick Mulvany-trained newcomer Duke Of Leggagh has also been backed from as big as 66/1 into single-figure odds. Brave Display is another outsider to attract punter’s interest and has been cut from 50/1 into as short as 6/1 for the 47-65 rated sprint handicap (3.50). Boughtinthedark has also been supported at big odds in this five-furlong dash. Charlemont is all the rage to make a winning debut in the five-furlong Navan Maiden (2.40) with the Willie McCreery-trained colt slashed from overnight offers of 15/2 into 7/4.
The early morning markets have been a bit quieter at Wexford where the going is currently described as good, yielding in places, with the action on a seven-race card commencing at 1.55pm.
Champion trainer Willie Mullins has three runners with all holding solid claims. Ganapathi is disputing favouritism at around 11/8 with Genois in the Freddie Doyle Memorial Novice Chase at 4.15, while Paul Townend is also aboard Authorized Art another leading fancy in the Poolcourt Rated Hurdle (2.30).
Mullins teams up with his son Patrick in the bumper where Walk In The Brise runner-up on both previous outings, will seek to go one better at 5.25pm.
