I was worried about the ground, it was a wee bit slower than what his best would be on,. It needed to dry as much as it did. He's won on slower but to be at his best he needs quick ground. We've had that much rain all summer you wouldn't know what way the weather was going to be. We could have a dry autumn as we've had one of the wettest Augusts we've ever had. He's fresh and well so we'll keep him going if the weather lets us. Mark Michael McNiff, trainer

K.E Buckley, rider of The Dasher Conway, trained by Mrs Gillian Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received pressure from the outside in the closing stages

K. Callaghan, rider of Old Bill Barley, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference before the last hurdle and hung left in the closing stages. The Raceday Stewards reviewed this incident and were satisfied that no further action was warranted

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Drumgill, ridden by C.M

Quirke, placed fifth, The Dasher Conway, ridden by K.E Buckley, placed second, and Presenting Lad, ridden by K.C. Sexton, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. M. Quirke stated that he received minor interference from his outside, but was satisfied that it was of little consequence. K.E. Buckley stated that he received a bump which cost him ground and he felt the incident had cost him the race. K.C. Sexton stated that he felt there was little or no contact and also felt his mount was idling when it hit the front. He concluded by stating that his mount always had the upper hand on the runner up and he felt he was always going to win. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Presenting Lad had caused minor interference it had not improved its finishing position as a result of this, so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, they were satisfied that no riding offence had occurred and therefore took no further action.

An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards (130 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
Riders - Confined to Professional & Claiming Professional Riders who have not ridden more than 15 winners under any N.H. Rules from 1st September, 2023 to 2nd September, 2024 inclusive. (Qualified Riders are excluded from riding in this race)
