FormscanBy Tom Weekes - AL GASPARO had top weight but is a previous course-and-distance winner and, crucially given likely testing conditions, has form on heavy ground. He routed his rivals in winning here in May and while well held subsequently at Galway, ran well in a winners' race at Worcester last month and won't be too inconvenienced by today's ground. Lieber Nicc's best form has been achieved on a sound surface but was placed on soft last January while Master Otis disappointed at Galway but had previously shown useful handicap form at the Fairyhouse festival and has also been placed on soft ground. Chutzpal's recent form is on a sound surface while Rocky's Diamond is declared to run at Gowran on Saturday.

He got a bit of confidence after winning the last day and just got away with the ground, he probably wouldn't want it any softer than that. . He was probably getting a bit lonesome in front. It helped that I didn't get bumped around, I got things easy so I was able to ride the race how I liked. It's a family operation and everyone contributes. It's not easy to produce winners of these kind of races on a regular basis, it takes a lot of doing and you have to work hard. We have good facilities, a variety of gallops, and can do everything at home. . This is a nice horse from the family of Constitution Hill and Menorah. He's been slow enough to get going but he's a raw five-year-old with a lot of talent and I'd be hoping that he'll make up into a nice horse over fences.

He is only a four-year-old so to beat those older horses was good and he hit the line strong, having been ridden out the back. David Kiely is a good loyal supporter of ours and has (prolific point-to-point winner) Rocky's Howya back on again this year so we're looking to him as well. this is the first horse I've had by him and being clear-winded and a beautiful mover, I wouldn't rule out buying another one by him.

Sadly the Schuster’s aren’t here today but part of the crew are. It’s great that he has won, he deserved to win one and hopefully he’ll progress now. I think the better ground helped him, he has got a bit of pace and is a nice horse. We have no major plan for him, but I’d say Listowel could be on the cards. The Schuster’s have a big connection with Listowel, so I’d say if there is something suitable there, that’s where he’ll go. We’d like to find something in between as well.

He had form in bumpers last year, learned his trade and is a lot stronger horse now. He were hoping he'd win in Fairyhouse but a horse ran out through a wing which upset him and he nearly fell at the second-last - only for that he'd have been a lot closer,. He has been working very well since Fairyhouse and my horses are an awful lot better now and the yard is in better form now. Sean Flanagan is great to have and gave him a lovely ride. I'd say he'll handle any ground, we told the owner to have a few pounds on so thank God it worked out.

I'm really happy with that. We took a bit of a punt bringing him back, but he is going to get a fair hike after Wednesday and he seemed in great form. He got 16lb for Wednesday which was probably fair. I'm delighted for his owners, we've already had a lot of fun with him. We will give him a little break now, I'm not used to running them that quick. . He's got loads of options and could go back on the Flat. We'll back off him for a couple of weeks as he's been busy. I'm delighted for Ethan as well, he gave him a great ride.
