He is 10 but has low mileage on the clock, is a serious work-horse and has a great appetite for the job. I don't know how many people asked me was he going to win today and I just said 'yes' - I've never been more confident about a horse winning than I was today. I made a mistake last year by running him in the Galway Plate as he is a two-miler. He was bang there jumping the last fence but is so genuine that he emptied the tank and we had to leave him until this year. . He will now get a mark and needs one more run to qualify to run in one of the better handicaps. He might go to Galway for the amateur race as he and Finny (Maguire) get on great. I have the Cesarewitch in the back of my head as well and the further he goes the better, as he is a galloper. . It was a good performance and without saying he is a superstar, he will definitely pay his way. We'll keep him for the flat, there is plenty of life in the old dog yet.

he had three goes to win a bumper aged six and couldn't as he was very keen, but he's a real pro now. He missed the kick today, settled away lovely, travelled everywhere and it was like a piece of work. Finny said he was never concerned at any stage, that he was always going to bolt up. I was a little concerned about the ground, I live locally and we got 30mm during the week in half an hour which was grand, as it took the firm out of the ground. The plan was to come here and run a nice race. He's about 10lb lower over hurdles and while we were looking at a handicap hurdle in Galway, on the back of that we may have to look at the amateur handicap. He's going to get a high mark as the right horses were second and third - he could be a 90-rated flat horse. I actually thought about the Galway Plate earlier in the year but it's too far. He's a two-miler over fences and there's nothing for him until the autumn. The Cesarewitch is also there at the end of the year and it's a €100,000 race.

We hit the bar with him last year when we were second to M C Muldoon in the graded race,. He's by Jeremy, and there's not too many of them around, and they always improve for a jump. It was high run over fences and you couldn't be too confident coming here today as there were a lot of highly-rated horses in it. We felt he'd run a nice race as he was in super form at home and I'm not surprised he's won. I would have been disappointed if he wasn't in the first three. I think fences suit him as he's a keen going horse and over hurdles he's just inclined to over race. With the extra number of fences there it settles him. We only schooled him a couple of times up the strip in the Curragh. The two fences in the dip he jumped like a showjumper. I was a little concerned the highly rated horse, Midnight Run, came up beside him but Sean said he had been filling him coming down the hill. We had dropped him back to two-and-a-quarter, he was a two-and-a-half or two-six horse over hurdles. We'll enjoy today and hopefully we have a nice potential graded horse.

He's a classy horse and he had very good bumper form. He had one little setback first time over hurdles in Thurles when he had a little heart issue but it hasn't bothered him since. He won well up the north and I expected him to win again today. He's improving away all the time. He was running in his bumpers on bottomless ground and I'd say it just didn't suit him. He's a real good-ground horse. He had a bit of a blow there, so can hopefully improve again. He's seven years old but we'll probably keep going with him over hurdles and see what level he can get to. He has the option of going chasing as he is seven and he has the size. He jumps great.

He's a fine horse. He had very good winter form in bumpers - he ran into a good horse of Gavin Cromwell's twice (Letsbeclearaboutit). He was second to him twice,. The last day in Thurles he was clinically abnormal, he wasn't right. He just had a little heart issue but it resolved itself. He was only running on heavy winter ground because we had him in training at that stage. He's seven years of age, so coming here I said 'we won't delay him before we go chasing' but we might go for a winners of one and just see what kind of a handicap mark we get. He handles this summer ground and we will keep him going.
