An enquiry was held into the running and riding of all beaten horses after the winner, For Pleasure (IRE), had established a sizeable uncontested lead through the early and middle stages of the race, before going on to win by 22 lengths, having been eased down after jumping the final hurdle.
Richard Johnson, the rider of Londonia (GB), placed second, Harry Reed, the rider of Buonarotti Boy (IRE), placed third, Theo Gillard, the rider of Spin The Coin (IRE), placed fourth, Tom O’Brien, the rider of Memphis Bleek (GB), unplaced, Jamie Moore, the rider of Seaborn (IRE), unplaced, Jonjo O’Neill Jr, the rider of Perfect City (IRE), unplaced, Sean Houlihan, the rider of The Artful Roger (IRE), unplaced, Jeremiah McGrath, the rider of Captain Kissinger (GB), unplaced and Ben Poste, the rider of Justthegrey (IRE), unplaced, were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
All riders stated they had been instructed to either, sit handy, settle mid-division or drop in and get cover.
The beaten riders expressed satisfaction with their early positions, particularly taking into account that For Pleasure (IRE) had appeared to go tearing off in front after running freely from the outset.
The majority of riders indicated that they had been unable to reduce the lead held by For Pleasure (IRE) throughout the final circuit as their mounts were either not jumping fluently or had been unable to quicken when asked for their finishing efforts.
The riders further explained that no runner had been able to make ground from down the back straight on the final circuit despite being under pressure for some distance to do so and finished the race tired, in their opinions obtaining the best possible placings in the process.
The riders' explanations were noted.
Following the race, Jonjo O'Neil Jr reported that Perfect City (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling.
