Lady a class act in Tipperary opener
It was a call whether or not to run her back quick or not but I felt Ronan was right at the Curragh when he felt the ground was too quick for her. She travelled really well in that race and flattened out. As a two year old she was hitting flat patches but is now doing the opposite and travelled too well to halfway the last day. She is in the Sapphire Stakes and while she'll be up against it, I wanted to bring her here to see what she would be like at five (furlongs). She is definitely travelling well much better now and is getting quicker. I'd also love to see her run in England in a hard-run five (furlongs) sprint. She is doing fantastic, cost 18,000 guineas, is a three-year-old who has done a lot and is going to get better.
Son springs shock in Tipperary Stakes
If he hadn't run in Sandown he'd have been second-favourite today. He didn't travel over well to Sandown, got interfered at the start and dropped back to last,. He was a bit sick when he came home but we gave him plenty time to recover and knew we had him 100% today. He is in the Weatherbys Super Sprint (July 22nd) with just 8st 10lb so that is a nice pot to be heading for after here, if he isn't sold. He is a good tough horse and should have a good career ahead of him. He wouldn't want the ground any slower than good.
Notion a welcome winner for Feane
They’re all running well, all hitting the board, so I’m happy with the way they’re running - just get a few more heads in front,. He’s been a very frustrating horse, but he’s never beaten too far. I don’t think he liked Dundalk, but I kept running him there as he’s there as a fun horse. He’s a funny horse — he couldn’t pull him up again — but I’m glad he won. It was a good performance from the draw, and we’ll try to get his head in front again. He was a shade unlucky last time, but Hugh did a great job on him today and deserved another chance on him. He didn’t do too much wrong the last day.
Flame burns bright again at Tipperary
Ger absolutely loves this horse and we were delighted to be able to come here on ground which is on the easy side of good. He is only learning, didn't handle Roscommon whatsoever and probably didn't handle here. He is still raw and green and he had to pull him around the bends but it is a great stepping stone for the Tyros (Stakes). He is a fabulous horse and is over 500 kilos - I'm sure we've had ones that size before but they were never any good!
Chestnutter strikes again under positive ride
Miss makes all for impressive win
She had been knocking on the door on her last two runs and got her act together and has run right to the line there. She is in the July Sale and goes there off the back of a very good win. I'll be sad to see her go but she is a nice filly who will win plenty races for the right connections. She is owned by Robert Lanigan and John Magnier, is definitely progressive and is still learning on the job.
