The Stewards interviewed J.M. Moore, rider of Araglen Lad, placed fourth, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion J.M. Moore was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency, and having taken his record into account, they cautioned him accordingly. Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards granted permission for fence no.2 (the second last) to be omitted from both of todays chases, races 5 and 6.

An extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards rated 0-102
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each such steeplechase won.
Riders - Confined to Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the allowance under Rule 52 (iii). Allowances (which are not cumulative, up to and including 1st March) who have not ridden the winners of 25 *races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden the winners of 40 *races allowed 2lb No allowance to riders under Rule 52 (iii) may be claimed.
