An enquiry was held following a report from the Veterinary Officer that an employee of Charlie Appleby, the trainer of Dawn Crusade (IRE), discovered an old wound dressing in Box 24 in the Racecourse Stables.
The Veterinary Officer was satisfied that the dressing didn’t have any contaminants on it but appeared to be muddy and so was satisfied that Dawn Crusade (IRE) could run.
Charlie Appleby’s employee, the Stable Manager, the Veterinary Officer, and the Clerk of the Course were interviewed.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Dawn Crusade (IRE) was routine tested.
Permission was given for Anapurna (GB) to wear a hood in the parade ring only.
Following the race Kieran O’Neill reported that the winner, Anapurna (GB), ran green and William Cox reported that Dawn Crusade (IRE), placed second, ran green.
