Permission was given for Sir Benedict (IRE) and Murbih (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Ohnojoe (IRE) and Kyber Crystal (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Prior to this race, Nigel Tinkler was asked to explain the reason why he was running Exceed (IRE) here at Beverley on going described as Soft, Good to Soft, having reported that Exceed (IRE) was unsuited by the Going following its run at Redcar on 2 May 2024 on ground with the same official description.
Tinkler’s explanation that having walked the track, he felt the ground was much better here at Beverley and therefore he was happy for the gelding to take its chance, was noted.
Kyber Crystal (IRE) ran freely to post.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, the mare was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately two furlongs out involving Frank The Spark (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Ryan Sexton, Sir Benedict (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Zak Wheatley and Murbih (IRE), unplaced, ridden by William Pyle.
Sexton was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he moved Frank The Spark (GB) left-handed when insufficiently clear of Sir Benedict (IRE), taking the gelding off its intended line and causing knock-on interference to Murbih (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final half furlong involving King Of The Jungle (IRE), placed second, ridden by Lewis Chalkley and Frank The Spark (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Ryan Sexton.
Being a 7lbs claimer, Chalkley was accompanied by David Easterby.
Chalkley was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed King Of The Jungle (IRE) to drift right-handed without sufficient correction causing Sexton to take a check aboard Frank The Spark (GB).
Following the race, Ryan Sexton reported that Frank The Spark (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run approximately two furlongs out and Connor Planas reported that The Grey Lass (GB), placed third, reared as the stalls opened.
