Weekend's 2nds make way for Mulvany's Wednesday winner
we were expecting a good run from him as he ran well the other day. He had a few little problems last year and we think we have them solved. He had a problem with his knees and that ground is helping him. Hopefully we can keep him right and he seems to be back to himself. We were almost forced to come here after getting 4lb for the other day and we'll see what the handicapper does now. The horses are running well, we have a lot of grass work done with our horses. We have a field that is every bit as good a gallop as that (racecourse) out there.
Easy win for returning Irish Derby-third
it was a nice to get a lead (from front-running Oriental Eagle), he has form on that ground, won on it in Listowel and Cork but he is pretty versatile. He's good fresh. The end of last year was a bit of a mess so hopefully this year we'll have a good year. I'd say he'll come back here for the Vintage Crop Stakes. He was third in the Irish Derby but he hasn't won a stakes races yet so we'll try and win one, and take the steps from there. Today was just to take the first step and hopefully he'll improve. Staying isn't a problem to him.
Cool Keane collects on Black Hawk Eagle
Colin was patient on him. I told him to ride him whatever way he thought but I wondering turning in was he ever going to turn up, but he did. he was disappointing last year but we probably ran him over distances which were too short. He ran second in Gowran over 1m2f but he fell apart. He won a hurdle race but only really fell-in in an ordinary race. He's a huge big horse and is only after filling into himself and he'll go back jumping as well. He stays well enough and does like soft ground which is a help.

Madrid runner makes use of extra 'Leg room'
We were forced into running as the 12lb rise was going to be hard. Duke Of Leggagh is a lovely horse in the making and looks like a horse that will jump a hurdle as well. He's growing and developing all the time. It took a while last year for the penny to drop with him but it did in Galway and Gary (Carroll, completing a double for Mulvany) said there is still a bit left in him there so hopefully it's onwards and upwards. He wants that ground and he stays that trip well. I think he'll develop into a lovely three-year-old hurdler in time. His full-brother (Ideal Pal) won the novice handicap hurdle in Fairyhouse last year and he's a better horse than him.
Brave Troop scores for Fitzgerald & McAteer
that win is a long time coming as I haven't had a winner since last November and it was bugging me but they are all running well. Brave Troop has really grown up. When he won for me in October I only had him a month or two but this time I have him longer. He's really matured and he's a nice horse to have in the yard and it's good for the owner (Sarah Corcoran) as well. He'll improve again from that and we'll go for another handicap with him. He'll probably go jumping again during the summer, he probably wants better ground to stay.
