The Starter reported that Hope Springs (GB) refused to enter stalls and was withdrawn at 17:23.
Jim Boyle was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Hope Springs (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the filly would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Approaching 2 ½ furlongs out, the rapidly weakening Mais Oui Marlene (GB), unplaced, shifted slightly right causing David Probert, the rider of But You Said (IRE), unplaced, to take a check off heels, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, WE’RE RENUITED (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bath on 3 June 2022 where the gelding finished eighth of eleven, beaten by 6 ¾ lengths.
Michael Blake’s explanation that the gelding benefitted from the drop in trip to 5 furlongs from 5 ½ furlongs as well as the pace of the race allowing the gelding to settle better on this occasion was noted.
WE’RE REUNITED (IRE) was routine tested.
