Approaching the final ½ furlong, Gweedore (GB), placed second, lugged right carrying Toussarok (GB), placed fourth, slightly off its intended line which in turn caused Tommy G (GB), unplaced, to become short of room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any horse.
The performance of Challet (IRE), which started second favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
Michael Dods’ representative could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Challet (IRE) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, David Allan reported that Manigordo (USA), placed third, was denied a clear run approximately 2 furlongs out and Shannon Watts reported that Tommy G (GB), unplaced, suffered interference inside the final furlong.
