Permission was given for Richardson (GB) to be mounted in the chute.
Lily's Gem (IRE) collided with the rails when going out onto the course.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, the mare was deemed fit to race.
Turning into the home straight on the final circuit, After The Fox (GB), placed fifth, was inconvenienced when Sindabella (FR) took the incorrect course before being pulled up, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider the reason Sindabella (FR), ridden by Tom Buckley, had appeared to take the incorrect course when turning into the home straight on the final circuit.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Buckley explained that he had his head down and as a result ended up riding the wrong side of the marker and the rail, whereupon he pulled Sindabella (FR) up.
Having heard his evidence, Buckley was suspended for 12 days for taking the wrong course.
The performance of Lily's Gem (IRE), which was pulled up, was considered.
Ryan Potter’s explanation that the mare was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Heavy on this occasion and in his opinion was riding tacky and holding, and that Lily's Gem (IRE) would prefer a better surface, was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The performance of Stop The World (IRE), trained by Michael Mullineaux, which was pulled up, was considered in light of this being the fourth consecutive occasion that the gelding had failed to finish a race.
The trainer was interviewed during which he reported that Stop The World (IRE) had a respiratory issue and would most likely be retired.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Having heard the evidence, Mullineaux’s comments were forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
