The Stewards requested a report from James McAuley, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Swift Wing (GB), placed first, as compared with its most recent run. James McAuley stated that his charge was ridden prominently on its most recent run at Dundalk on the 23rd of November and a change to hold up tactics today had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Tonkinese (GB), ridden by M.P
Sheehy, placed fourth, Swift Wing (GB), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, placed first, Ardamir (FR), ridden by D.P
McDonogh, placed fifth and Maysonlight (GB), ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed sixth, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings. They did however find J. M. Sheridan in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered J. M. Sheridan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended J. M. Sheridan for three racedays.
