Approximately 3½ furlongs out, the winner, Gulland Rock (GB), edged slightly left-handed causing Hell Of A Year (FR), placed fifth, to be steadied when short of room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Gulland Rock (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong when the winner, Gulland Rock (GB), ridden by William Carson, interfered with Woke (IRE), placed second, ridden by Clifford Lee.
Carson was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to hang persistently right-handed without sufficient correction, intimidating Woke (IRE) and carrying that filly off its intended line for some distance.
