J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Ecclesiastical (GB) trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount fly leaped on leaving the starting stalls
The Stewards interviewed N.M. Crosse, rider of Huddle Up, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was in a tight finish, on tiring ground, but accepted he was in breach of Regulation 10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that N.M. Crosse was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, pursuant to Regulation 10.6(a) they suspended him for 7 racedays and instructed him to attend R.A.C. E. for 1 day's tuition on the correct use of the whip.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 50-85 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st 2lbs and the minimum weight shall not be less than 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
