On the bend leaving the back straight, a weakening Jimmy Bell (GB), placed sixth, edged left momentarily causing Boher Lad (IRE), placed fifth, to be checked in its run, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Late Shipment (GB), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Hereford on 2 January 2019 where the gelding finished eighth of ten, beaten by 27 lengths.
Nikki Evans’ explanation that the gelding had benefitted from the drop-in class from Class 4 to Class 5 and appreciated the stiffer track on this occasion was noted.
Late Shipment (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Daniel Sansom reported that Mogestic (IRE), placed eighth, hung left-handed.
