He ran at Limerick over Christmas and he was caught on the (inside) fence and they bunched up and he couldn’t get going again. He wasn’t beaten far in that good novice. We said we’d make plenty of use of him, and softer ground would suit him better. Hopefully he’s alright after that. If he gets in I’m pretty certain he’ll run in the Pertemps. Noel Meade, trainer
Under the provisions of Rule 90, the Stewards allowed Tin Soldier (FR), trained by Patrick G.Kelly, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the error identified in the certification of vaccinations would be corrected in accordance with Rule 91 within the timeframe specified
The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Its All Guesswork, ridden by M.A. Enright, and trained by Gordon Elliott. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. M.A. Enright, rider, stated that his mount had taken a heavy fall the last day in the Munster National and he was instructed today to ride him towards the rear of the field, get him jumping, get his confidence back, creep away into the race and get him home. He added that his mount did not travel well early on but his jumping kept him with the field of runners. He explained that he was squeezing his mount turning out of the back straight, he made mistakes at the third last and second last hurdles and without resorting to the whip he felt that his mount stayed on well past tired horses and was gifted third place by the fall of Choungaya (FR). In his opinion he rode as strong as possible using his hands and heels. Gordon Elliott, trainer, confirmed the instructions and stated that his charge stood in his stable for six to eight weeks after his fall in the Munster National to allow for an injury at the back of his knee to heal. He added that he ran his charge over hurdles to regain his confidence but going forwards he held entries in both hurdles and chases. In his opinion his charge handles all ground descriptions except the extremes and would need to race over a trip. He expressed his satisfaction with the ride and the manner in which his charge had jumped. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Its All Guesswork was coughing post race. Samples were taken for analysis. The Stewards viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence. In view of the veterinary evidence, the Stewards noted the riders and trainers explanations. .
