Inside the final 2 furlongs , Spirit Mixer (GB), placed fourth, edged right at the same time as Grand Scheme (IRE), placed second, hung left handed, resulting in the rider of ALPHINE STROLL, placed fifth, having to ease riding for a number of strides but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing’s of Spirit Mixer (GB) and Grand Scheme (IRE).
On Veterinary advice, Koeman (GB), placed third, did not enter the winners enclosure.
The Veterinary Officer subsequently reported that the gelding was sore on its right fore.
Following the race, Pat Dobbs reported that Grand Scheme (IRE), placed second, hung badly left- handed in the home straight.
