Rising Sunshine (IRE), trained by Milton Bradley, finished unplaced at Kempton the previous day.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a pre-race examination of the gelding deemed it fit to race.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Baby Gal (GB), ridden by Isobel Francis, and trained by Jim Boyle, which was settled in rear and raced detached from the field, before running on in the home straight to finish seventh, beaten by 4 ¼ lengths.
The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated her instructions were to ride the race as she found it, but as she was slowly away from a wide draw, she decided to drop in and go the shortest way home.
The trainer’s representative stated that he was satisfied that the ride accorded with the instructions given although he would have preferred Francis to have been a little less detached from the field in the early stages.
Francis was suspended for 10 days for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing.
