Caracristi (GB) collided with the running rail when leaving the Parade Ring.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the filly was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider an incident just inside the 3 furlong marker involving Havana Cabana (GB), unplaced, ridden by Isobel Francis, Furniture Factors (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Joe Bradnam, Van Zant (GB), unplaced, ridden by Alex Jary, Gaazooo (IRE), which was unseated, ridden by Gianluca Sanna, Mister Charlie (GB), which was brought down, ridden by Sam Feilden, and Moon Over The Sea (GB), which fell, ridden by Alec Voikhansky.
Riders Isobel Francis, Alex Jary, Alec Voikhansky, Joe Bradnam were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident accompanied by senior rider Paul Hanagan, but both Sam Feilden, and Gianlucca Sanna were unable to be interviewed owing to their injuries.
The interference was found to be accidental in that rounding the bend into the home straight, Van Zant (GB) edged slightly left-handed off the rail becoming unbalanced, resulting in Moon Over The Sea (GB) to be placed momentarily onto the heels of Havana Cabana (GB), which at the same time had also drifted right- handed into the path of Moon Over The Sea (GB) as a result of being intimidated slightly off its intended line by Furniture Factors (IRE).
This subsequently resulted in Moon Over The Sea (GB) clipping heels and falling, Mister Charlie (GB) being brought down, and Gaazooo (IRE) being hampered and unseating Sanna.
Joe Bradnam, the rider of Furniture Factors (IRE), placed fifth, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from approaching 2 furlongs out.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Apprentice, Bradnam was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The performance of Sixstar (GB), which started joint second-favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Tim Easterby could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion.
