An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ a furlong involving the winner DEEP POLE, ridden by William Carson; Edmund Ironside (GB), placed second, ridden by Robert Havlin and Aeroplane Mode (GB), placed third, ridden by Harry Burns.
The Stewards considered the interference had not improved the placing of either DEEP POLE or Edmund Ironside (GB) as although Burns had to take a check between both runners, the Stewards were satisfied that both DEEP POLE and Edmund Ironside (GB) were getting the better of Aeroplane Mode (GB) when the incident occurred, to be beaten a neck and 2 lengths at the line respectively.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Havlin was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction causing Aeroplane Mode (GB) to be short of room and Burns having to take a check between DEEP POLE and Edmund Ironside (GB), which resulted in the quarters of DEEP POLE being turned.
