At the first flight, Salopian Boy (GB) veered left-handed on take off, unseating its rider and causing File Illico (FR), placed fourth, to be badly hampered, Bird On The Wire (FR) to be brought down and the rider of Locallink (IRE) to be unseated, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Richie McLernon reported that File Illico (FR), placed fourth, made a mistake at the third-last flight.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Legends Ryde (GB), which started favourite and finished second, lost its left-fore shoe.
