As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that My Friend Woody (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
When leaving the stalls, Moonlit Cloud (GB), placed third, ducked quickly left-handed bumping Beebee (GB), placed fifth, causing knock-on interference to Bug Boy (IRE), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Moonlit Cloud (GB).
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Cowboy (IRE), compared with its previous run at Southwell on 6th December 2022 where the gelding finished tenth of ten, beaten by 28 lengths was considered.
Neil Mulholland’s representative’s explanation that Cowboy (IRE) was better suited by a prominent ride was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
