Permission was given for Cafe Milano (GB) and Seaforth (IRE) to go early to post.
The raceday privilege request in relation to Seaforth (IRE), trained by Adrian Wintle, was not submitted.
Wintle was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted before 1pm on the day before racing.
On the final bend, Urtzi (IRE), placed third, ran out slightly before straightening up on the straight causing Cafe Milano (GB), placed seventh, to be tight for room between Urtzi (IRE) and Mercurist (GB), placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Urtzi (IRE).
The winner, Weloof (FR), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chelmsford on 22 January 2021 where the gelding finished last of eight, beaten by 5¼ lengths.
John Butler’s representative’s explanation that the gelding was fresh after a break and benefitted from, in their opinion, a race-winning manoeuvre down the hill, was noted.
Weloof (FR) was routine tested.
Following the race, Tyler Heard reported that Seaforth (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
