Permission was given for Sophosc (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Approximately 1 furlong out Sophosc (IRE), placed fourth, hung left-handed taking Firby (IRE), placed sixth, off its intended line which in turn moved the winner, Cuban Hope (IRE) onto Batocchi (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of any runner.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference in the final ½ furlong, when Tommy R (IRE), placed second, ridden by Harry Burns interfered with Batocchi (GB), placed third, ridden by Cam Hardie.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Tommy R (IRE)’s placing as Hardie had to ease for several strides, losing momentum and ground until rallying close to the line, to be beaten a diminishing ½ length and revised the placings as follows: Batocchi (GB), placed second; Tommy R (IRE), placed third.
Burns was suspended for 2 days for allowing his mount to drift right with insufficient correction, causing Hardie to check for several strides.
Following the race, P J McDonald reported that Sophosc (IRE), placed fourth, ran too freely.
Rowan Scott reported that The Brora Pobbles (GB), placed fifth, hung right.
Callum Rodriguez reported that Firby (IRE), placed sixth, hung left.
Ben Robinson reported that Cloudland (GB), unplaced, weakened quickly turning into the home straight; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Cloudland (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
