Leaving the stalls, Superseded (IRE), unplaced, jumped left-handed at the same time as Shepherd's Purse (GB), placed seventh, jumped right-handed, causing Raspberry (GB), placed fourth, to be inconvenienced, Trouser The Cash (IRE), placed third, to be badly tightened for room and Passional (GB), placed second, to be hampered, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend leaving the back straight involving Superseded (IRE), unplaced, ridden by P J McDonald and Red Allure (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Tom Eaves.
Eaves was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left- handed when insufficiently clear of Superseded (IRE) causing McDonald to take a check.
Approaching the home bend, a free running Passional (GB), placed second, had to be switched right-handed when it ran onto the heels of the winner, Qaaraat (GB) and hampered Shepherd's Purse (GB), placed seventh, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Passional (GB).
Approximately 1½ furlongs out Thegreyvtrain (GB), placed eighth, hung right-handed as the winner Qaaraat (GB) was shifting to its outside to obtain a clear run, which in turn caused Passional (GB), placed second, to be steadied and switched left-handed, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, George Rooke reported that Raspberry (GB), placed fourth, was slowly away.
