An enquiry was held to consider why Roger Charlton, was running Campari (GB) here at Chepstow on going described as Good, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Doncaster on 13 June 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that in his opinion the ground at Doncaster had been deteriorating due to the rainfall, whereas the surface at Chepstow on this occasion was much sounder and they were therefore happy for the gelding to take his chance.
Following the race, Tom Marquand reported that Mahanakhon Power (GB), unplaced, ran green; the Veterinary Officer reported that the colt lost his left-fore shoe.
