Shortly after jumping the last hurdle, the winner, William Of York (GB), hung quickly right-handed carrying Captain Jack (GB), placed third, marginally off its intended line, which in turn resulted in Sonnemoser (FR), placed second, being briefly taken off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any runner.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, William Of York (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
The representative of Dan Skelton’s explanation that the gelding has settled better in front on this occasion was noted and William Of York (GB) was routine tested.
