An enquiry was held into the running and riding of All Of The Lights (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Kieran Shoemark and trained by Richard Spencer which broke well and was held up in the rear under apparent tender handling before being asked for an effort approximately one furlong out, to finish fifth of eight, beaten by 14 ¼ lengths.

The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated his instructions were to get cover and get All Of The Lights (IRE) balanced as the gelding is a large horse which ran greenly and was unbalanced on its debut at Leicester on 17 July 2020.

He added that he became trapped behind a wall of horses having been shuffled back early and therefore elected to sit patiently rather than racing wide around the bend without cover.

He further added that in his opinion, All Of The Lights (IRE) would appreciate a step up in trip in the future and that on this occasion the gelding had obtained its best possible position.

The trainer confirmed that he was satisfied with the ride and that it accorded with the instructions given, adding that All Of The Lights (IRE) was a large horse and that he expected him to improve with time and racing.

Their explanations were noted.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Nature Lover (GB), which started second-favourite and was pulled up, bled from the nose.
