On the first bend on the first circuit, Sambella (GB), unplaced, was left short of room when Poniel (GB), unplaced, edged left-handed at the same time as LETSBEAVENUE (IRE), unplaced shifted right-handed.
After viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider whether Harry Kimber, the rider of LETSBEAVENUE (IRE), which finished last of the eight finishers, had continued in the race when his horse appeared to be very tired.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
Being a 7lb claiming conditional, Kimber was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry, but declined.
The Veterinary Officer stated a post-race examination of the gelding showed it to have recovered within the normal parameters.
Kimber explained that LETSBEAVENUE (IRE) had stopped quickly on the approach to the final flight but at that point he was committed to jumping it.
He further added that having jumped the last, he felt the gelding had enough in reserve to be able to complete the course safely.
His explanation was noted.
