Permission was given for Hagia Sophia (GB) to go early to post.
Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Hagia Sophia (GB) had refused to race and was deemed to be a runner.
As the mare had also refused to race at Bath on 26 July 2023, Christopher Mason was informed that any future similar behaviour from Hagia Sophia (GB) may result in the mare being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching two furlongs out involving Under Curfew (GB), placed second, ridden by Mollie Phillips, Bluebell Time (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Charlie Bennett and Evasive Power (USA), placed fifth, ridden by Billy Loughnane.
Phillips was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left-handed without timely correction, taking Bluebell Time (IRE) off its intended line which in turn, caused Evasive Power (USA) to be taken off its intended line.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approximately two furlongs out involving Louis Treize (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Dougie Costello and Epeius (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Georgia Dobie.
Costello was cautioned for careless riding as he shifted left-handed when insufficiently clear of Epeius (IRE), causing Dobie to ease for a few strides.
Following the race, Mollie Phillips reported that Under Curfew (GB), placed second, hung left-handed under pressure; Gina Mangan reported that On Edge (GB), placed fourth, hung left-handed under pressure; Cieran Fallon reported that El Hibri (IRE), unplaced, was briefly denied a clear run two furlongs out and Georgia Dobie reported that Epeius (IRE), unplaced, became short of room approximately two furlongs out.
