The Starter reported that Scudamore (FR) broke out of the stalls and was withdrawn at 4:41pm.
Jennie Candlish was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of all beaten horses after the winner Storm Chaser (FR), ridden by Rose Dawes had been allowed to establish a sizeable uncontested lead from shortly after the start.
Alex Jary the rider of Hidden Pearl (GB), placed second, Conor Planas the rider of Diamond Cutter (GB), placed third, Olivia Tubb the rider of Russian Rumour (IRE), placed fourth, Molly Gunn the rider of Henry The Fifth (IRE), placed fifth, Oliver Searle the rider of Master Grey (IRE), placed sixth, and Emma Taff the rider of Destinado (GB), unplaced, were all interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Jockey Coach was also present during the enquiry.
Tubb’s instructions were to sit handy and to take a soft lead if it was available, however the early pace was too strong for her liking and her mount raced one-paced throughout.
Planas explained his instructions were to jump out and find a nice rhythm, and whilst his mount stayed on it had failed to quicken when asked.
Gunn’s instructions were to drop out and gradually creep into the race without forcing the gelding.
Searle explained his instructions were to drop in sit rearward and get a lead into the race.
His mount had jumped slowly and was unable to make up much ground in the home straight.
Taff’s instructions were to take her time and sit out the back, with her mount failing to quicken when asked.
Jary’s instructions were to take a lead as the mare can be keen.
All riders were of the opinion that when Storm Chaser (FR) took up the running the mare appeared to be running freely at a pace which they felt was unsustainable, believing that Storm Chaser (FR) would weaken and come back to them in the home straight.
All riders further added that they were of the opinion their mounts had obtained the best possible placing in the circumstances and would not necessarily have finished any closer had they asked them for an effort from further out.
Having heard their evidence, all the rider’s explanations were noted.
