An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Leeswood Lily (GB), ridden by Sean Quinlan and trained by Jennie Candlish, which appeared to be tenderly handled in the home straight to finish eighth of twelve runners, beaten 15 ¾ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to sit mid-division, get Leeswood Lily (GB) jumping and finish as close as he could.
Quinlan added that he felt he was in a good rhythm before being hampered by Jolyon (GB) at the first hurdle in the back straight which caused him to lose his position and despite jumping well in the home straight, the mare could only finish one paced.
Quinlan further added that in his opinion, Leeswood Lily (GB) would be suited by a step up in trip.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Brendan Powell reported that Jolyon (GB), unplaced, ran green.
