After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved, and that the incident was accidental and caused by his mount stumbling badly after jumping out of the stalls.
Following the race, Joey Haynes reported that Munificent (GB), placed fifth, ran too free and Taylor Fisher reported that Tomshalfbrother (GB), unplaced, never travelled.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
