The Stewards requested a report from J. S. Bolger, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of New Direction, placed first, as compared with its recent run. J.S. Bolger reported that a quick return following a run eight days earlier and the soft underfoot conditions may have contributed to the performance at the Curragh. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Keble, at the request of trainer, Adrian Brendan Joyce, and reported the animal to be post race normal.
