Permission was given for Amazing Amaya (GB) to go early to post.
Leaving the starting stalls Canimar (GB), placed seventh, jumped left-handed at the same time as Amazing Amaya (GB), placed third, jumped right-handed causing Little Miss Muffin (GB), unplaced, and Classic Pursuit (GB), unplaced, to be short for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of any horse.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final furlong when Eesha Says (IRE), placed second, ridden by Elisha Whittington interfered with HEY HO LET’S GO, placed fourth, ridden by Robert Havlin.
Whittington was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift left- handed without sufficient correction causing Havlin to check against the rail for several strides.
Being a 7lb claimer Whittington was offered to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The winner The Grey Zebedee (GB) appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 06 December 2019 where the gelding finished eleventh of fourteen runners, beaten by 13 ½ lengths.
The representative of Tim Easterby’s explanation that the gelding was suited by the drop back to five furlongs and the reapplication of blinkers was noted.
The Grey Zebedee (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Josephine Gordon reported that Canimar (GB), placed seventh, hung left-handed.
