The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Victoria Bay, trained by Colin Bowe, placed first, compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from Matthew Byrne, authorised representative of the trainer concerned, who stated that she tended to be very buzzy in her races so they dropped her in, but seemed to sulk being ridden that way. He also thought that with the change of tactics by being closer to the pace today this may have helped his charge. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation.
