The Stewards enquired into an incident on the final bend involving Beat The Ballot, ridden by J.P. O'Brien, placed fourth, Equation Of Time (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed first and High Hill Beauty, ridden by I.T. Queally, unplaced, where it appeared High Hill Beauty ran short of room when racing on the inside. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action. T.P. Madden, rider of Sparkee Sakhee (GB), trained by Denis Leahy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount checked off heels on the final bend, cocked his jaw and ran wide into the straight. C. O'Donoghue, rider of Pivy's Pride (GB), trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. The Stewards requested a report from Garvan Donnelly, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Equation Of Time (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Garvan Donnelly reported that his charge benefitted from todays tight turning track and the fast underfoot ground conditions compared to the straight mile at the Curragh. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (70 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 70 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 70 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
