Shortly after the seventh hurdle Order Of St John (GB), placed fourth, became short of room between Sideshift (FR), unplaced, and Encashment (GB), placed third, causing its rider to switch left-handed and as a result gave a bump to Rains Of Castamere (GB), placed sixth.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Order Of St John (GB).
Approaching the eighth hurdle Rains Of Castamere (GB), placed sixth, became short of room on the rail after making contact with the hind quarters of Tiffany Rose (GB), unplaced, resulting in that horse leaning in and becoming unbalanced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of RAINS OF CASHAMERE.
Rounding the bend leaving the back the straight, Sergeant (FR), placed second, lugged left-handed towards the rail causing the rider of RAINS OF CASHAMERE, placed sixth, to take back off of heels.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Sergeant (FR).
The winner Colonel Lesley (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 6 June 2022 where the gelding was pulled up.
The Stewards noted the explanation given by Claire Harris that Colonel Lesley (IRE) may have benefitted from the removal of blinkers, on this occasion, the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Jonjo O’Neill reported that Sideshift (FR), unplaced, clipped heels and stumbled approaching the 8th hurdle.
