He has always jumped brilliantly at home loose schooling but when we ran him, his jumping was just appalling. I think you cannot move a muscle on him so we stuck Dylan up on him and told him to tie his hands to the mane and he was brilliant on him. He's a good horse but just couldn't jump and his jumping went to pot. He jumped pretty well today, still made a couple of mistakes but he'll be a nice horse when he gets his confidence. It's great to see Dylan back - he's a great little rider, is a good part of our team and is with me full-time and works hard with us. The Stewards requested a report from Henry de Bromhead, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Poker Party (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent run at Cork on the 15th October. The trainer reported that A.E. Lynch rode this gelding at Cork where he ran freely early on when ridden close to the inside rail but more significantly his jumping was very poor except for the first hurdle. Since that run the gelding was schooled intensely at home by Dylan Robinson and he retained the partnership today but under instructions to give his mount plenty of light, let him jump in his hands and leave him alone. He added that the gelding only made one mistake today and that was at the last hurdle when asked to jump under pressure. In his opinion the change of tactics and method of riding contributed to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
